Isma Gilani is the Senior Technical Director at the Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI), where she leads the Software Architecture Group. Her work focuses on designing and implementing secure, cloud-agnostic cyberinfrastructure to support data-intensive research across biomedical and computational domains. She serves as the technical lead for the MDSC Portal and Execution Platform, a component of the Model Integration and Simulation Management (MISM) program, developing scalable systems for model execution, registry, and FAIR data compliance.
Isma has extensive experience leading projects such as HeLx, EduHeLx, ORDR-D, CIPOC, and CTMD—integrating Kubernetes-based environments, identity management, and AI-enabled workflows to advance collaborative science. Her expertise bridges research computing, data governance, and secure analytics environments supporting NIH-funded and academic research programs.
