Co-Investigator, Research Project 3, MISM
Medical Instructor, Duke University

Janice McCarthy, PhD, Co-Investigator, is a Medical Instructor in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics in the Division of Integrative Genomics in the Duke University School of Medicine. Her research focuses on mathematical modeling of the dynamics of biological systems using ordinary differential equations and on calibrating those equations to data. Specifically, Dr. McCarthy applies her work in two distinct areas: host-viral/immune system modeling and models of complex antibody-antigen binding kinetics.

With a strong belief that the future of biomedical research lies in team science, Dr. McCarthy’s interdisciplinary training has equipped her to communicate effectively with both biologists and mathematicians, bridging the team and advancing projects. Dr. McCarthy develops and fits within host models of respiratory viruses for MISM Research Project 3.
