Jian Pei, PhD, Internal Advisory Board, is the Arthur S. Pearse Distinguished Professor of Computer Science, Professor of Computer Science, Chair of the Department of Computer Science, Professor of Biostatistics & Bioinformatics, and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University. He earned his PhD from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, in 2002, under the supervision of Jiawei Han, and his bachelor's degree from SJTU. Dr. Pei previously served as a professor at Simon Fraser University and SUNY Buffalo. He was named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in 2014 for his contributions to data mining and knowledge discovery. Dr. Pei’s research interests include data science, data mining, databases, information retrieval, computational statistics, applied machine learning, and AI.
