2026 Summer Intern, Research Project 3, MISM
PhD Student, Applied Math, UNC Charlotte
Montse Torres Garcia is a PhD candidate in Applied Math at UNC Charlotte. Montses' research focuses on multi-type branching processes with applications to infectious disease modeling, particularly malaria parasite population dynamics. Her mathematical background is rooted in stochastic processes and linear algebra, including spectral theory, and differential equations modeling.
She will use her experience at MISM this summer to expand her knowledge about mathematical models for biology, in particular to learn about immunology models.
