Senior Biostatistician, Surgical Sciences, Duke University
Sheetal Sawant, MPH, is a Senior Biostatistician in the Department of Surgery at Duke University, working in the Georgia Tomaras Lab. She specializes in statistical analysis for immunology and vaccine research, with deep expertise in assay qualification, validation, and clinical study support. Her work emphasizes rigorous statistical methodologies to evaluate assay performance, including precision, linearity, and detection limits, ensuring reliability and regulatory alignment.
She manages Biostatistics and supports the Data Management team within the Antibody Dynamics and Immune Function group at the Center for Human Systems Immunology, alongside Dr. Tomaras. With over 15 years of experience, she leads statistical strategy for complex immunological assays, including HAI, BAMA, and functional assays such as ADCP, supporting large collaborative networks including HVTN, CAVD, and BARDA.
Sheetal provides technical guidance, mentorship, and collaborative oversight to data analysts and cross functional team members, fostering high quality data practices and analytical consistency. She provides leadership in developing and maintaining robust data workflows and practices, with a strong emphasis on data integrity, traceability, and reproducibility. She is also experienced in developing automated data processing and reporting pipelines in R, supporting quality control workflows and audit ready reporting. She actively contributes to scientific publications and cross functional collaborations to advance data driven research.
She will work closely with the Data Analyst to transmit SPR assay data to Dr. Singh, Dr. Henderson, and other investigators listed in RP2 and RP3 as needed, to ensure efficient data flow and will support the accurate and timely transmission of data to collaborators.
